The colorful, attractive, hand-blocked items such as notes, letter sheets, book plates, gummed labels, napkins, placemats, and linen towels are done in traditional Pennsylvania German designs. Many of the designs are taken from the Taufschein and Geburtschein found in Berks County, PA, USA and surrounding areas. Many of the designs used are the traditional birds (doves and distelfinks), as well as the tulips and hearts of the Pennsylvania Dutch.
Some of the notes and Christmas cards have family recipes on the backs which include Shoofly Pie and Faustnachts.
The items are printed using hand-carved linoleum blocks. The multicolored designs require three blocks, one for each of the colors red, blue and yellow. Notice that there are more than three colors in the designs. The blocks must be carved so the primary colors overlap to produce the additional colors in the design.
